Scottsdale’s Museum of the West: Western Film History

Project Overview

CK Valenti Designs created the displays for the inaugural exhibition of the Rennard Strickland Collection of Western Film History at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. The exhibition is open from June 20, 2017 through September 30, 2018 and features more than one hundred western film posters and lobby cards dating from the 1890s to the mid-1980s, curated from one of the world’s largest collections of western film graphic arts.

This exhibition pays tribute to Rennard Strickland, whose collection of more than 5,000 items celebrates the American West, cowboys, Native Americans, the history of the movie industry, and the power of the West’s cultural legacies.

CK Valenti Designs worked diligently to create displays that feature western designs that showcase the style of the museum and its many artifacts.

Working with the SMoW team, we created a fun, interactive display to give visitors a taste of the movie star experience. As you walk by, motion sensors set off flashes and camera lens’ clicks. You’d swear you’re being photographed by real paparazzi.
